Diageo Global Travel (GT) is a substantial and growing business for Diageo and is a global business unit that operates within the Middle East, America, Europe, and Asia.
Often referred to as 'the sixth continent', Travel Retail has its own set of inhabitants, geographies, and channels - from international airport shops, land border stores and onboard airlines to ferries, cruise ships, and some non-retail and diplomatic sales. It also has its unique commercial landscape that operates 24/7 across multiple languages and currencies with 200+ nationalities travelling annually. So, you'll explore and make connections with people all over the world, experiencing different cultures every day. Connecting travellers with unique gifts to elevate celebratory moments, for themselves or others, will be at the heart of everything you do.
The Global Travel APAC hub also manages the Middle East, India, and North Africa Travel Retail business. Our vision is to be the undisputed leader in Travel Retail and achieve double digit growth each year. A large part of this ambition will be achieved through building amazing customer relationships, inspiring the team to new levels of performance and providing an unparalleled brand proposition and retail experience.
The Role
Reporting to GT Commercial Director - APAC, Middle East, and India (sits in Singapore), based in Shanghai, this role will lead the GT team across Greater China responsible for financial and brand equity results.

- Lead a team of approx. 6 account managers
Top Accountabilities
- Deliver margin enhancing growth in the P&L (60m in F24) & market share objectives through driving super-charged performance within your team
- Create and foster an inclusive team culture that inspires and shapes the future of the channel and executes through decision making with speed
- Recruit based on the right behaviours and inspire a winning culture within the team.
- Demonstrate an excellent coaching ability and take deep personal responsibility for developing the talent future pipeline of the GT business.
- Develop world class relationships (where applicable) with the relevant senior directors and stakeholders
- Drive team to become the supplier of choice, via excellent customer management and powerful relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure that all the chosen brand consumer campaigns are brilliantly executed across the customer base
- Work effectively with the brand and category teams to align and then deliver the strategic plan.
Desirables
- Significant commercial experience at a management level within the wider Sales Organisation (including account management) - 10 years of experience
- Deep understanding of and passion for consumers, shoppers and categories
- Outstanding strategic relationship manager with ability to plan strategically with customers and link strategy into implementation
- Highly commercially aware, creative and astute with strong financial and analytical skills
- Highly positive thinker, able to create new possibilities and manage through ambiguity
- Ability to gain momentum and to drive change internally and externally
- Strong line manager with experience of leading and coaching cross-functional teams to great results
- Has demonstrable track record of leading transformational change programms (either through Customer or Supplier) which unlock new growth opportunities for both parties
- Exhibits consistent high levels of learning agility in all aspects of role - early adopter of new ways of working and platform changes. Leading this agenda through others
